Finding the best time of my life.
Learning to live that momemt again.
If I could just recall
The best time of my life.
What was I doing to feel such joy?
What was I doing to reap such peace?
What was I doing to feel so good?
To rotate my tires of life
To have such balance wheels.
If I could just recall
The best time of my life.
If I could just remember what
Got me going-----
The best time of my life.
Always amazed and full of wonder
Inside my head dreaming,
dreaming of what it would feel like
To be on Broadway,
To travel the glistening palettes
Of unrepressed seas.
Dancing a jig in the barn,
Jumping from bail's of hay
Singing Oklahoma.
Using broom handles,
Pitchforks as my dance partners.
Rolling around in mounds of cotton,
Waiting to be bailed.
Getting stuck by left-open-half-ripe pods.
Sliding down mazes of grassy hills.
And whimpering moss-choked valleys.
Riding Bessie in the misty dawn.
An old philly put out to pasture
Because of her fallen youth and beauty.
Stopping off at the watermelon patch,
Crouching in cold unrelenting dew
That layers melon vines and grounds and
rows all around.
Using my fist to drill right through,
To the heart of it.
I can still taste it now-----
Sweet...sugary sweet.
Juicy rose red drippings.
Melon meat.
Every bite,
A heavenly feast.
Spitting out the soldier seeds
That always did battled between
my teeth.
And my tongue and fingers-----
The toothpicks.
Going with grampa to the Paris runways
Of cotton gins and weigh-ins.
Riding home in the back of his green
Midnight pickup.
Wooden railings,
As tall as the dusty orange peach trees
That ecamped his fields and shaded his ancient roads.
If I could just recall
The best time of my life.
To rotate my tires of life.
To have such balance wheels.
To stay.
Infinitely young.
At heart.
Full of wonder.
Unrestrained.
The best time of my life.

Each time you read my words and somehow manage to find a tiny thread that's worth spooling or sewing into your spirit, you lift my spirit. Thank's so much for being a lifter.
