If I could let you touch me
Then maybe I won't close the door
If I could let the children touch me
Then maybe the pain I feel won't be no more.
If we could just touch one another
Maybe we could learn how to be
A good sister, or a good brother.
If we could just touch one another
Maybe our hearts can become one
If we could just touch one another
Then maybe we would have already won.
If we could just touch our children
Maybe their lights won't mushroom to dark
If we could just touch our children
Maybe that's all they've longed for,
That one special spark.
Maybe if we could just say to one child
"I'll catch you and break your fall"
And maybe
Just maybe
That life would be worth living here on earth
After all.
Maybe if we could say to one child
Who can't read
"Put your hands in mine; I'll show you how to Succeed
I'll be your guide; I'll be your lead."
Maybe if we could just touch our nation
Maybe it won't go astray
If we could touch our leaders
Maybe
Just maybe
They'll at least listen to what we have to say.
Touch our world
And feel those in need
Touch our world
And maybe hope truly lies
in the priceless seed.
Touch the land
Give back its kind
Maybe then when we trample it
It won't mind.
If we could touch our countries
That war and fight
Maybe
Just maybe
We can all begin to sleep again at night.
If we could find time to touch man
To encourage him along the way
We would have bestowed the priceless seed
That no man ever need repay.
Thanks everyone for caring about my words. You lift me every time and inspire me to keep writing...to keep trying to make a difference.

touching the priceless seed - your writing has touched me ... this one, especially...I put up a poem today "Lessons from Examples" about my father...he would have loved this, too.
