Cops don't like to answer calls from children getting raped. It's the child's word, you know. Another parent looking the other way. Answered 'em all, wouldn' have time to ride on murder. Like that. Reg'lar as rain, rape. You kidding me? Talkin' hundreds. Thousands in New York. L.A., Atlanta, Chicago. N.O. -- name one, kids are crying for help. Some is out of spite, you know. Somehow we're supposed to know who's on the up and up. Sure. Right. Boys?? God, yes. Prob'ly more don't ask, don't tell situation. Plenty of girls too afraid. Think it's their fault. Hundreds, thousands, just the tip of the iceberg. Hell's bells. Ain' natural. Is, who knows? Don't get paid to think, just roll. Grow a shell or you'll end up sticking your revolver in your mouth. Maybe commit suicide by cop yourself. And yes, there are cops injure their own. Know the ropes, doesn't get to court. Like the man said, We don't need all kinds, just got 'em. Damn, 'ere's another one on the horn. Some nights, don't think you can stand . . .forgetaboud it. Just. . .forget it!
No way could I be a law enforcement officer. I might "accidentally" shoot somebody doing this to a child where they'd never forget it for the rest of their lives. There needs to less "awareness" because everyone's aware--and a whole lot more prevention and support and locking up folks who keep paying their way out of such terrorism against children.
The statistics say that only one in four rapes are reported so however many they are hearing about, there are three times that many that aren't calling them. With a rape call, there should be physical evidence and that should be checked with every call, both to convict and to dismiss. A very sad write, Pea, but one we can never hear enough until attitudes and laws change. My dad was a police officer and I can remember hearing such lines like "the way she was dressed, she was just asking for it." NO woman asks to be raped!!!!

Sad truth, Phyllis, and you tell it like it is. The idea of raping a child turns me inside out. Some find it okay and continue their efforts to creat future sociopaths who continue to pay for some one else's crime.
Greaat piece Phyllis, as wife of a retired P.O. and as a former Victim Assistance Corodinator in a small town 28K, you are really on top of it in this piece. Heartbreaking write Pea, I am part of a child protection team and deal with this a lot more than I would like to, and I live in small town USA...however I can, I do try to make a difference
