PS to New Year Prayer

Please add to our thank you note:

From mid-northern climes:

. . .also for the magic of waking up
to find snow has turned the world
to a snow globe more stunning
than anything Tiffany’s imagines.
to offer. That we are able to pause
for an instant to thrill to its beauty.
Beauty of the silence and gentleness
with which it chose to land.

From desert regions:

. . .and for the way sunlight plays
with a dune, creating magic
shades of shadow part blue
but mainly all colors combined.
For water when water is needed.
For vastness so vast, flaws
shrink away.  For the freedom
to roam, for the silence to be.

From the top of the highest mountain:

. . .and for the view.

From a reef in the tropics:

. . .and for the teem
. . .for the anemone
. . .for the turquoise
. . .for the shrimp
. . .for the pearl
. . .for the crab, yes
. . .and for the oxygen to breathe
. . .for the gratitude, the gratitude.

From poles north and south:

. . .for the courage, for the determination,
for the feel of hot coffee or hot tea,
for the glove, for the steam from the breath
of a sister or fellow, for digging tools,
for the polar bear, for the seal.

From a jungle:

. . .for the elephant, for the lion,
for the tiger, for the wild, for
the monkey, for the paint and denim
and sense to protect or camouflage,
for shade, for light, for camera, for sight,
for knowing when to put away
cameras, not shoot.  For a fan,
for the venom that missed; being able
to walk without making a sound.
For knowing we are animals
in the best sense and the worst,
but have will to do right.

From farm, from ranch, from building site:

. . .for long light
. . .for strong nails

From Author’s Den:

. . .here is a place
to be brave, yet safe.
Tell our stories,
speak our minds.
Open our hearts.
Rant and rave.
Tell us where you live
and how the place blesses
you and yours.  We are
here to join, not judge.

My prayer is for the wholeness of the planet
To honor those who are the guardians of the unfortunate humans and of the discarded, injured or lost animals
Those who never leave them homeless or to fend for themselves
Those who remember to feed them, both in body and spirit
Those who understand that if those who are able don't care for them,
humanity is doomed.
Those who never forget "There but for the grace of God, go I"
My prayer is for those who speak for the ones who have no voice.
When we open our hearts in these ways, peace becomes a way of life, not just an empty or unattainable dream.

Thank you for this, Pea!
Take care,
Sherry

Pea,

...From the Southland:

For accepting people as they are,
adopting us into your heart,
and showing us the meaning of love.

Happy New Year, Pea! What a marvelous invitation! Thank you for sharing your heart. And for welcoming this Yankee there. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

For knowing we are animals
in the best sense and the worst,
but have will to do right.

And I hope we do lots of 'right' in this coming new year; this glorious but under attack earth of ours could sure use some help.

And Happy New Year to You, Phyllis!
