This powerful, and powerfully-written, piece says so much. The story is almost as old as time, sad to say. Thank heaven there are organizations such as Angels That Care that are dedicated to decreasing domestic violence and seeing that victims get the help they need. Talented and determined artists like Karla will surely have an impact. [Know you're all busy, but if you haven't left a review on Karla's site, think about commenting there, as well.] Blessings! 'Pea'

She wanted to leave, oh, how she
wanted to, but it was too late, too
late for Mama.

He struck the face he praised; the one
he promised to cherish; it was too late, too
late for Mama.

He pinned her to the bed, pinned
her against her will, it was too late, too
late for Mama.

He held her in an iron fist, he held
her too tightly; it was too late, too
late for Mama.

They buried her yesterday. She
wanted to escape, but it was too late, too
late for Mama.

(c) 2007, Karla Dorman (5/23)

A most sad, haunting write, glad you shared Karla's work with us. She deserves to be read; one of the finest poets I know (and I should: I'm her twin! :) ). She has a true God-given gift that screams to be recognized!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :( >tears! <

(((Pea))),

You honor me by reposting my poem. Thank you. If our words can save one life from abuse, the tears we've cried will have been worth it, worth it all.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. *tears*

Read this the other day on Karla's site, touched the depths of my heart! This is such a sad, sad, tragedy that is happening all over the world, more now than ever before! I left a review for Karla, telling her of a friend of mine, that had endured years of abuse to tell no one, we were all in a state of shock the day that the news came when she would and her husband would both be found in their home shot. The husband shot her after nearly beating her death, and then turned the gun and shot himself...in front of their two children! Such a sad, sad, tragedy! You are right my friend, others need to visit her site, she wrote a powerful piece on a rape victim! Enjoyed this uplifting write for Karla!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

Good of you to post this on your site, too, Pea. The whole world, truly needs to read this. No one has the right to lift a fist against another. We're humans, not animals. We have intelligence and the ability to engage reason. It's sad what some women have to face from our "protectors".

God Bless
Love and respect

It is so sad that women feel that they must remain in these violent relationships for one reason or another. The cold, hard reality is that whatever she thinks she gains by remaining, she loses in the quality time she spends here and with her family. The worst part of putting up with domestic violence is that it is a poor teacher for our children, for violence is a gift that keeps on giving. Excellent, eye-opening poem, Pea.
Take care,
Sherry

Nearly cracks me up this does....I was one of the lucky Mama's, where so many arent!
Yes we need far more help for Women who are abused, DECENT places to go, rather than the hellish refuges they offer to women, which is why they never leave...I know I couldnt stand the thought of it...I went to one, and all that happened was..Drugs on the premises, stealing, raiding of rooms..But God delivered me from Evil hands, and I am here today.
TY Pea, TY Karla, God bless you both.
Ch'erie ((((hugs))))

There is so much truth to this poem. I do believe us writers need to bring this type thing to the public attention, so many women are abused and know one even knows it, because they are to afraid or Don't have a safe place to go to.

I agreed with you this is a powerful write I hope and prayed that whoever needs the help Read this message!!

Love And Peace to you always...Morning Star

Phyllis, it's to late for many Mothers, it's to late to mend their hurts and pains, because Mothers stay in situations because they don't have a place to go with their children and no money to feed them. Many areas of the country has no escape programs to help the women who are abused and many women are left helpless and will do anything to keep their children with them. This is sad and touched me greatly! Thanks for sharing.

A sad progression of events Pea. There is too much of this kind of lunacy in this bloody world. Well done!
