Buster came into my life,
A grateful canine soul,
Rescued from a certain death,
He ate steak from a silver bowl.
Tail wagging romping through the park,
Scattering the leaves of fall,
Leaping joyfully mouth agape,
Splash! He caught the ball.
Buster's days are over now,
His life a tragic end,
Mowed down by a speeding car,
I held my bleeding friend.
Labored breaths caused yelps of pain,
I drew closer to ease his fear,
Love in his eyes he licked my face,
Sensing death was near.
Winter Solstice brings Orion the hunter;
Canis Major chases the Hare,
Sirius the Dog Star lights the way,
Buster loves it there.
Heaven sparkles with radiant joy,
God filled it with special friends,
There Buster gives all the kids,
Doggy kisses that never end.
Loved it. Blessings J'nia
So well descripted, and very moving - nicely penned!!
Always the Best,

I love your scenes of Buster "afterwards" -- those last two verses are precious, and I won't be surprised if Buster and other cherished pets (like my "Corky" and "Niki") are there for our delight.

Very sad and but tender memories hold the lines together, like your love for a friend, Buster. I am reminded of my dog of 14 years, Mooshi, who died in my arms after months of illness and from old age.
I still miss him.
