“Love’s Guitar”
You often had become a fine guitar
Your curves comfortable to my wrist
As haunting melodies ebbed forth
Each time I came across your strings
Like emotions in the light of candles
And a song nestled warm in my heart
I crossed those bridges with such ease
With the reassuring hint of your breath
Fixed while never turning to look back
On cue as angels overhead would sing
I hit that chord each time I played you
And no two would ever be the same
Then I would simply caress the notes
To the perfect pitch of our delights
To the rhythm of the anxious night
The mahogany of surreptitious grins
I will play you for our private pleasures
And feel along the sleek of your neck
As you sing to me in the depths of love
One fret after another in the crescendo
There are depths below the surface
Where the cries of love reverberate
Echoes that tint memories of romance
And extract the marrow of passion
Securely I cradle you in my lap and arms
Close enough to feel the heat within you
So I can hear the beating of your heart
Composing now our endless tomorrows
Overwhelming me in the melodic flow
And the symphonic obsession climbed
As if it were able to penetrate heaven
In the sharply familiar key of our souls
"...Like emotions in the light of candles
And a song nestled warm in my heart
I crossed those bridges with such ease
With the reassuring hint of your breath..."
This is about as good as it gets! Your verse captures the essense of love in your metaphorical comparison on guitar & woman. I have played both in my life and can appreciate the beauty of this piece more than you know. It's perfect!
A search for the ghost of a chorus girl chorine haunting a costume designer’s Manhattan apartment leads to an encounter with an eccentric, mischievous witch with the ability to send folks back through time…in this case, the 1919 Ziegfeld Follies.
"...Like emotions in the light of candles
And a song nestled warm in my heart
I crossed those bridges with such ease
With the reassuring hint of your breath..."
