Orchid of Love

I marveled inspired by the garden of her beauty
Staring directly into the path of least resistance
within the satiny curvaceous folds of her orchid
where I would settle in and come alive with her

my heart cradled her essence with fixated eyes
and a wanting that could no longer be denied
my pulse quickened as I pursued every angle
her gentle movements revealing the once hidden

I was so cautious in fear of reading between lines
Afraid to decipher what may have not been mine
raising even the dead from their dark cold haven
causing my heart to beat within silent shadows

I would go over and over in my wandering mind
With an invisible wand leeching out some magic
Like Merlin in an obsessive state of wonderment
To conjure up the answers to all of my questions

If she even knew how I wanted her all these years
Yet how I allowed time to shift on the steep slopes
Sliding down without a trace that I was even there
Letting slip those opportunities that were too easy

I close my eyes and find only there, I have returned
Back into the soft gentle valleys of her quiet soul
Hearing her underlined words come off the page
Where I nestle contentedly in the orchid of her love
