Do not move

For when I paint you…do not move
I wish only to capture your essence
elusive as the butterfly in love’s net
fluttering here and there, my heart
knowing well that I shall catch you
when the dawn introduces its light
when the dew begins its dispersal
and the night slips between sheets
dissipating with the scented candle
I wish only to relive all your dreams
with the reality that two hearts find
when they discover love regained
within the strokes of a biased brush
full of color and inevitable emotion
straight from the palette of passion
direct from those hues of romance
for no one has the benefit of heart
more than lovers waking embraced
with a taste of a kiss upon their lips
for no one has the vestment of soul
more so than the givers of the heart
counting each beat as if it were final

For when I paint you…do not move
as I profess to worship your beauty
that distinguishable warmth of you
that filters yet through the distance
as careful to not miss each nuance
that is invariably what I see in you
in focus of my eye upon your body
it is evident that in trembling hands
the time does not permit that I stray
for my canvas is not quite forgiving
and beauty is not meant for escape
it relies on the diligence of my touch
to outline that devotion in your eyes
to experience the caress of your skin
and comfort that I find in your bosom
that has nurtured me in fantasy’s veil
retracing that emotion upon your face
that expresses a real devotion for me
in the same way that finds me ecstatic
within the magic that draws me to you
as that same one I also have savored
in every time that I thought about you

Amor,

Do not move...I'm claustrophobic, but would gladly stand still while you paint a portrait as loving and beautiful as this. Well done!
