Resurrected Innocence

You left the residue of your essence

Lying heavily upon my imagination

I intentionally turned blank pages

So that I would not be able to focus

Each breath was a sigh of contentment

Your smiles were nouns of temptation

White doves in the inconceivable midnight

With wings flapping in a controlled rhythm

Matched only by the ineffable racket

Of my own feeble attempts at prayer

Without fail I would glimpse your way

To pave your direction with yearning

My heart would be your stepping-stone

With testimony pledged to your glory

My thoughts spin around the template

Of a sweet and indestructible passion

Your kiss a potion for titanium hearts

In that magic my soul was transformed

Awake in the genesis of your attention

You painted me the color of your patience

Soothing the red silhouette of my mind

Drenching the hot coals of my anxiety

With aqua blue dreams in the distance

Tempering my fears with your touch

I envision blending into your heaven

In a horizon dotted with cool white sails

I trace the silhouette of your existence

With a melody that is born in my heart

You came to me in my recycled youth

Because you knew I would be waiting

And you were a breeze full of caressing

That I desperately held close in my arms

My Miocene perceptions would dissipate

And I would not falter in your warm night

I bathed in your unbearable tranquility

Resurrected in the innocence of your love

What beautiful images you have created, Amor!

Lovely metaphors!!

Thank you for this deeply romantic and sweetly conceived
'valentine.' It could only have come from a loving
heart and soul.

Such rapt devotion, Amor! I might half expect to find such a treasure scrawled on the wafer-thin pages of a Victorian prayer book that has been lost between abutting pews of an English country chapel, commenced one Sunday during a desultory homily and continued week-on-week as his Muse sat with quiet patience and obedient eyes upraised towards the high altar window: see how you set my mind to work! :)) Such a collected grace and calm is here which, together with the purity of emotion expressed, makes the soul sing at the intoxicating combination of worshipful passion, on the one hand, and a steadying, steadfast endurance on the other. As always, beautifully visual work. My favourite section is:

Without fail I would glimpse your way
To pave your direction with yearning
My heart would be your stepping-stone
With testimony pledged to your glory

... who could possibly resist such soulful allure?! Elegant and refined as perfectly fits such noble romance. Lovely, Amor, thank you. xx

Women dream of a man's devotion being so deep. I like the sense of security, too, like all that's bad dare not touch those embraced. Sometimes it can feel that way; two against the world. Swept away:)
