she escapes into my world from her reality
as if the script was so romantically penned
while her imagination is in between pages
and my attentions were stolen by her lens
when she speaks, it breaks the long silence
it is a dance of words against my aching ears
pressed to the surface of air minus 5 degrees
but with the insistent color of sound pressure
I am infected in the very moment I think of her
as the scent of her perfume becomes incessant
leaving no room for error in the pronunciations
murmurs articulated in the early hours of night
I can understand the urgency of those vibrations
those that shake the core of me where I stand
because I know that she has arrived in full glory
behind half-truths and her mysterious gestures
*
but what I cannot now understand is her anxiety
as if our tomorrows would be savored too soon
open to interpretation between the shadows
of what she believes to be half steps to love
I know so much, but of her I know way too little
and there I shall endeavor to keep my eyes open
for if I should blink she may disappear once more
and then I will be abandoned as wax in the sun
she is to me, like a beautiful genie in the bottle
a surprise that appears suddenly in pale smoke
and vanishes in the gusts of wind swept canyons
after her solemn promise of fulfilling my wishes
of course I must be careful of what I wish for
for just as subtle as directing my own dream
when the rivers that flow in imagination carve
they must change course in the fervor of time
*
she is a mistress of temptation come to calling
upon my keen focus where it dwells in the heart
in the middle of my angst and old reservations
where I stumble on the slippery rocks of desire
it is her femininity that my eyes eagerly follow
and the symmetry of her that drives me insane
taking me somewhere on a never ending journey
through those uncharted valleys of ecstatic bliss
I am tortured between the unblemished linen
that covered me in my walks in the garden
and the half-burned sheets of wanton desire
that my demons upon capture have reclaimed
she smiles in the haze of an incoming fog
through the arches of love in the making
where our backs bend fast in the rhythm
in a dance that forgives nothing in the end
*
on this morning I feel like the messiah of love
returning to her the sunshine born in her heart
careful not to trespass upon her imagination
those thoughts she harbors behind closed lids
I have awoken from a dream sensing her near
and the possibilities that develop in good time
not knowing well the road that we have taken
being without a map of where tomorrow lies
on this journey I walk in between the shadows
abruptly tapped on the shoulder by a tilted sun
uncertain if I should change direction to comply
if I am impulsively driven by the animal in me
I hold a photograph of a mistress of temptation
that beckons to me with a myriad of glances
the kind accompanied by Cheshire cat smiles
and in the end I look up to find that it is you
Poetry that can be called poetry because it truly is, Amor! This sets apart poetry of its kind and puts the Mistress of Temptation on a pedestal...sometimes the mistress is closer than we know...there are so many good lines here. This one I relate to in a most certain way
"I am tortured between the unblemished linen
that covered me in my walks in the garden
and the half-burned sheets of wanton desire
that my demons upon capture have reclaimed"
This weaved a powerful spell where I almost wished I didn't feel so at home.
Almost.
And certain moments of this stung so sweet.
This will linger like the perfume- and that was a big moment.

You are long of pen, like slow foreplay, leading to the final climatic conclusion… the last line. So masterly you have chosen your words to convey the mystery of waking from a wet dream into consciousness seemed that the object of your affection is right before you.
