IT'S NIGH, IT'S HALLOWEEN!

If you think you are alone

You'd better think again.

A frightful, dreadful scream's to be

It's nigh, it's Halloween!

A two story house where we once lived

Down on twenty fourth

Was angled t'ween big Walnut trees

Facing east...not the bitter North!

Its gloomy façade glared with spooks

The kind from long ago

Just waiting there for little kids

To step into its door.

Large shrubs surround in daring might

Just one more bitter thing.

To jerk them from a safety net

Jack-o-lanterns they would bring.

A large pump organ the house did love

We used it in our plan.

Recording eerie music, love,

To sound throughout the land.

Hubby wore a mini wig

Turned 'round, a scary look!

His face was white, all powdered down

Werewolf for sure...full rig.

I donned black cloak and stood in wait

The staircase was my ploy.

It was as though I floated down

To meet them at the gate.

A car load full of big old boys

Pulled up there near the curb

And stared into the dark front door

A dare each one did slur.

At last the boys did take a move

They eased as quiet mice

Stepping upon squeaky porch

But we were not so nice!

No lights to give away our plans

It was so dark indeed!

I greeted them with snaking hiss

And Werewolf growled his breed.

It was as though the boys knew

They were to be our brew

Cause like a flash they scattered fast

Their feet, why heck, they flew!

Gravel spewed under tires

Car motor revved in gear

The big old boys let out a scream

"Let's get outta here!"

We laughed so hard to see the fright

Plastered 'cross those teenaged kids

It brought so many things to front

When we were brave...not bright!

So many years have come and gone

Halloween is still the same

Cause we sit and think and plot

Another fearful scheme!

If you think you are alone

You'd better think again.

A frightful, dreadful scream's to be

It's nigh, it's Halloween!

From the moment they entered the house, hinges creaked and strange and frightening sounds echoed through the halls.
