I thought I saw the face of God
Reflecting from old Phyllis Lake
I thought I saw the face of God
Then I did a quick double-take
What I did see was a soft evening sky
Purple mountains-the trees and the moon
From a point somewhere out by the island
Came the wild clarion call of a loon
As I sat there, twilight softly rolled into night
Velvet magic wrapped around like a shroud
And old Mr. Moon was completely in tune
Peeking out from behind a white cloud
I thought I saw the face of God
As I sat in this magical place
And then all of a sudden it struck me
I did-yes I did see God's face
