IMAGINE

As I was saying my prayers late last night
The words came tumbling from my heart

"What did I do to turn you away?"  

"Did I not love you enough, show you the way?" 

"Was I not there for you each time you fell?" 

"When you needed me, was I not the first to call?"

 The tears fell as I thought of those I love

 Who have forgotten me, and left me here alone

 I asked my Savior, "Why have they forsaken me?"

 and then........the room became very still......

 "Often I have wondered the same of you my child

Throughout your life, I've carried you through,

 making sure that the pain would soon erase

 Sending you warmth, and giving you hope. 

 Each time you became stronger, and then you

 would forget me, forget my name, no longer

 needing me..... yet, I love you so, will never

 let you go....and......I waited for you to come

 back to me.  Waited for you to say my name,

 to let me know that you were safe,
 but still love me, and never will forget who I am..."

 Yet....the sound is silent.  Until.....

"You are in pain, you feel abandoned and alone,

Need and want those whom you have loved

more than life itself...to remember you....

They do not call, they do not come while the

tears fall, and your heart is empty, hollow...."

One day you think...they will not have you

anymore.  You will be gone, too late to call,

too late to say I'm sorry...too late to say....

I love you... Your time will be past, and they

cannot undo, nor can you.

"Imagine....how I feel my child,

when I have loved you, comforted, found

shelter, fed and clothed you...given you someone

"Imagine....how I feel my child,

when you forget my name

the one you claim to love so much....

the one you have not called, or spoken to

in so very long?

Imagine....that I will never forget you

never forsake you, never leave you alone

and empty.... All I ask my child,

is that you ask... that you speak my name

without shame.....

My promise remains the same.... I will not

forsake you..... it is you who has forsaken me"
