Better Left Unsaid

Better left unsaid.

How can we, you and me

say “I love you”

when the words do

no more than hurt?

How can we, you and me

say “I miss you”

when the years between

will never shorten,

nor the distance between

never lessen.

“Friends,” we say,

“Lets be friends.”

Yes, true , we are

friends, you and me.

But try as we may

the words, “I love you,”

the words, “I miss you,”

albeit now unsaid,

sit within our hearts and

play within our minds

and though we struggle

not to say:

“I love you!”

Not to say:

“I miss you!”

The love we feel,

the longing we feel

surpasses friendship,

but true , the words

do no more than hurt.

So, my dear friend,

though better left unsaid,

let me say....

I love you!

Such pain and love combined in these lines and perfectly expressed by one who know what love is.

Sometimes it just doesn't need to be said, as the two people know it without the need for words. A touch of melancholy, but such a lovely write for your friend who I'm sure returns the sentiment. A lovely write, Mark ~ Lizzie

Saying "I love you" to a distant lover is like throwing a pebble on a quiet mirror like face of a lake, after the plop (I love you), the rings will go on multiplying until they reach the distant shores.
And, "when the years in between will be never shorter" are the sands inside the glass hour, one will get shorter and shorter until there is only one.

It's wonderful to be able to say "I love you" to someone and really mean it and know that they know you really mean it. Nicely expressed, Mark. Love and peace to you,

Regis
