Slumber

Night shadows have you close to me.

Your arm across my bare hip,

my hand onto your outside thigh.

The warmth of your naked breasts onto my back,

your sleeping breath soft upon the nape of my neck.

Whereupon in my sleep I turn,

and hold you tightly onto my chest.

As then the part of me that was asleep, awakens,

and within the realm of our slumber I find you

and you are warmly open to me,

and the heat that surrounds me surrounds

not only my flesh but my soul.

Into the shadows of the night I whisper, 

“I love you.”

And into the shadows of the night I hear you whisper,

“I love you.”

In night shadows, entwined, deeply together we slumber
