My Lady
We lay closely together
my lady upon her back
myself upon my side
my head propped by my hand
looking at her,
looking at my lady
and though
not classically beautiful
and though
not one that turn all men’s heads,
the beauty of this woman
the beauty of this woman I love
near taking my breath away,
the beauty of this woman,
this woman
that holds my heart
within her hands...
though not a religious type,
though far from a religious type
the beauty of this woman,
this woman
that holds my heart within her hands
can only come from the hand of God
and so,
lying alongside this woman I love
looking at the face of this woman I love,
though not a religious type,
though far from a religious type,
thank you, God
I think,
thank you God for this gift,
this gift you give to me
this woman I love.
