Embers in the air,
smoke is rising
like dancers at play
as the moon arrives.
Hiding in the light,
with our back to shadows,
we're feeding the fire
with each year of our life.
We ride the wind from the fire--
higher, ever higher--
We ride the wind from the fire--
into the night.
So few make the climb
to fortune and fame.
Dream-catching hearts
abandon the flame.
Alone on the sand,
as silence takes hold,
desire expires from a
dream growing cold.
Still, we ride the wind from the fire--
higher, ever higher--
we ride the wind from the fire--
into the night.

Like the third stanza the best. Nice rhyme, nice rhythm. First stanza is very descriptive, but it doesn't flow as well.

You always leave me wanting more. Love reading your works.
