frozen tears
like crystal beads
drip down winter's face.
An empty solice to the
shades that drift
by agonizing degree
deeper into the mystery
deeper into darkness.
I see them in their blankets
and cast-off rags.
Shivering on the steam grates,
huddling in crannies.
Blind society permits them
miserable refuge
if they remain politely silent
and unseen.
Cast-away children
of a cast-away world--
the other shore you seek
must be found in dreams--
thebaubles offered here
are too fine for your rude hands.
move along--
move along--
move along--

Yes dear, society has a blind eye. And turns away sometimes from those in need. Bill
'Better Without You'is a compelling narrative that explores the complexities of an affair, hidden secrets, and abuse. It also highlights a daughter's heartfelt journey as she cares for her mother who is battling dementia.
