Battlefields All

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Battlefields know no boundaries, no mental immunity, no gender privilege, We are hardwired for war and all its magnificent bastards and other metaphoric reasonings.

Battlefields All

With no man’s land before you

Eyes measure time in the trenches

Where mud and waste share contentment

Giving shelter for another drowning

Atop and beyond

Obstacles block vision

Amidst spiraling barbs

Where flesh and uniform once hooked

Now but recreation for ants

And wanderlust

 maggots

Hearts beat silent

Here in man’s wars of plenty

This place of perpetual aggression

Where resurrected endings continue passive

Astride injury’s crimson mist

Beyond any beginning or end

Trusting only past scars

Carried beneath bloodied faces

Awaiting another stumbling sprint

Drifts the smoke knowing too well

Its smoldering ruins

Accepting there will be more

Somehow, some way, we always survive and continue. That's why there are nearly 7,000,000,000 souls on the earth and growing. Wars don't make a dent in this number. Eventually though, entropy will set in, and it will be far more terrible than any war with all its valor and hullabaloo, patriotism and the like.

In a way I agree with Deborah. In another way I think there are viable reasons for what you have described above. WWII is the only example I can give, and the last war we fought we can actually say we won. We're in a war now, but the battlefield has changed. Now war is carried out by puppets of a brutal religion and walk into places with explosives strapped to them to detonate and kill innocent men, women and children. Or . . . They could commandeer planes and fly them into tall skyscrapers.

Odin: In my opinion we are not hardwired....we are brainwashed!

God Bless You,
