Momentary World's Forever

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

To consider how tenuous and short-lived our existence, is to ponder some of its arresting moments of growth and the possibility. Such infinitesimal particles of life the universe is may be just beginning to awaken. (Image by stock photo)

Momentary World’s Forever
by Odin Roark

Such becomes,
whether by oregano mixing garlic aroma,

Or

the eagle’s screech on high.
Perhaps a distant parental swell
of a daughter’s little league score,

Or

a boy’s first job.
The brown bags with milk bottle on the bottom,
Wonder Bread on top,
A cheery “have a nice day, “Mrs. Glbert.”

Or

discovered independence brought forward
by Topic of Cancer’s inked-paper visions

Or

an off Pendleton Base Tijuana week-end pass,
uniform pressed,
Marksman medal polished ,
Old Spice generously applied,
reality’s first XXX,
an experience of eliciting compassion,
where Penthouse and Playboy pages once ruled.

Remembering the boy curiosity,
now a man of resolve,
foreshadows initiation urns of growing up.

Given the infinity of existence…

questioning of another kind
asks again of the heart ever faithful,
“Will I be worthy to deserve
Time’s next momentary use of my atoms?

I think that most people don't pay any attention to their "momentary use of atoms" except to gather all they can, fornicate all they can and leave the rest up to their God or whoever they think is in charge or to blame. Their only contribution: overpopulation and fodder for the war machine.

In a confession of sort, you are trying to justify your youthful action and your final conclusion. Let us hope that both were good and have contributed to humankind as a whole. That's all we can ask for in this brief life.

the mystery of life and all its changes, raising an important question "questioning of another kind" in this "infinity of existence". Excellent questions, fine poem. John
