Nature and Man's Duality

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

- Every day, as a society, we’re reminded of the intensity being advanced to persuade us to embrace hate and divisive behavior. One only needs to stop and realize how all of Nature, Man included, is a paradox, where the negative and positive is intended to live in harmony in order for the planet to survive. So says historical data.

Nature and Man’s Duality

Like Banyan trees of another kind,
Pain's paradox be everlasting

Fathers beget sons beget fathers,
Nature's duality of passage,
Fraternal roots reaching skyward,
Winged youth spreading birth downward.

Through darkness imbued by maternal tears
Amidst light sometimes never seen,
Foretelling comfort of aging limbs,
Reason survives.

What breath we share.
What honesty mistake's compost provides,
Even as recurring pain
Carves indelible etchings,
Worn as scars indelible.

Ever mindful,
Survival reminds us:
Wisdom's lessons are earned,
Not given.

Man! You know how to grab a metaphor and grab attention! Your words tell a story that's oh, so true! Yes, "Wisdom's lessons are earned,..."! Big time!

Love ya!

Jane
