Contaminants Becoming

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

- In today’s world, fundamental reasoning to respect life’s natural opportunities often becomes relegated to the waste-pile of ignorance. (Sculpture by Yuichi Ikehata)Contaminants Becoming

So sad the befoulment eroding the organic human

Eating
How sweet the poisons

Thinking
How comforting the hate

Drinking
How sugary the moment

Living
How costumed the action

Rage
How normal for anger

Laughter
How painful the slanderous humor

Weeping
How tearless the emotions

Running
How elusive the finish line

How tenuous the heartbeat of consciousness?

How difficult to do the right thing
To accept the you of you
Respecting the organic nature
Of life’s existence

Yet…

The obvious falls on deaf ears
Praying for rain
Many will have to deal with the mud

Oh, to know what can’t be forgotten

Body
Mind
Spirit

All enter existence pure

Yet…

Like co-dependents
Many are unaware of the quagmire to come
Where one is apt to discover more

So true. Most know nothing of what it takes to survive day to day like we did for over 100,000 years, only to lose it entirely in the last 10,000 years along with our feel for our nest and source of life. We dream of living on Mars, or worse, a place called heaven while we while away our lives in trivial pursuits and conspicuous consumption.

I would venture to say that perhaps 90% of us are already locked in codependent lives shortly after we arrive at the awkward stage of puberty. And for those who claim they have found a way out of their misery have only exchanged one cult for another.
