Density of Calamitous Laughter

As the new 2025 administration prepares for office, many will argue that the future is without any safety net, that leadership may prove to be in freefall. (Image by Odin AI)

Poem Artwork

Density of Calamitous Laughter

Aspirants for the never-ending cycle of the 1%.
Congressional recess, the dream.

The 2024-2025 eclipse.

Laughter alone
From crimson oceans,
where choked laughter once screamed,
now fallow in swaddling cloudy cover,
awaiting creams and fragrances
to tickle the vibration center
of another kind.

Once proud with schoolbooks shouldered,
destined it sits upon kidskin thrones of thievery,
these modern pillagers from Ivy Halls
still suckling on innocence past
sigh contempt at Washington's deus ex machina.

Gloating from stories on high
where the air is light,
the laughter heavy,
sweaty fingering of papered pleasure tremble
I'm about to post another bonus for Cayman waters.

Lesser sanguine chuckles
now beckon the button
where new aspirants
with encapsulated gasps.
like such impassioned beginnings,
elevate to waiting spires
of suffocating money-scape craters
where laughter finds no echo.

For is not laughter unheard
when smothered by unaccountable guilt
where sooner
or
later
there is only
the empty air of immunity’s calamity

?

. . . and the emptiness you write of is now so overwhelming full. Drain the swamp indeed.

I will survive! And we will battle through another four years of blame, party and failure to meet with the people need.

A lot to read here in your anger at those laughing at us. Only those who are right get the last laugh. And it may truly be our last laugh the way the train is headed with none of the perpetrators driving the engine, just partying in the caboose.

Haranguing with a certain degree of formality may bamboozle the masses, but the ears and eyes of the wise will always find the root that feeds the sham, address it, and then pluck it out. Kent, I think, in your funny abstract way, you have unwittingly summed up the outgoing administration. Your daughter Justine's interview on 'Fox News Digital' and her brave declaration that Trumps election "lifted the suffocating cloud on free speech" was spot-on. I applaud her moxie. Peace... rlc
