Life’s Driftwood
Residue of experience

From
worn paths seen through heavy mist
where rubber balls once bounced
bicycle tires rolled
sneakers kicked rocks
Vibram soles trekked
To
transient echoes heard distant
where taxi horns blew
subway rails labored loud
pigeons cooed serenely
radio controlled sailboats
dotted Central Park’s lake
Returned
where gentle touches
made rewarding a mother’s love
a child’s security
a father’s confidence
grandfather’s trust
grandmother’s faith
Such
becomes part of Life’s driftwood
destined to be fed of experience
honored
harvested
used
recycled
Lest we forget
words
like driftwood
survive death
The driftwood I picked up in Baja in 1968 maybe over 1000 years old.

Indeed it is said;
'No matter who you are, or who you are not; it is the way you made them feel which will be remembered.'
