From Under The Rug

A rain of old loves pours down upon me
I’d swept under the rug for eternity
The rug was lifted, when shaken, it freed
The spirits of lover’s once precious to me

The images eerie, though soothing to see
First kiss amid snowflakes ‘neath evergreen trees
Love on a rooftop with stars shining bright
On the hill in a back seat on a warm summer’s night

Some kisses backstage at our High School dance
Together in moonlight, my first taste of romance
Climb in through my window in my college dorm
Our antics of love, so much fun to perform

Once on my own the patterns had changed
I’d serve dinner at my place through kisses exchanged
A woman by all rights I was ready to free
That wild purring tigress locked up inside me

Love for my pleasures, no strings attached
Breaking the hearts of those not so well matched
Then falling in love despite all my fears
And crying my heart out in a time full of tears

Finding my “One” and wanting to be
But he was a one who loved being free
Going for stable and a safe choice for life
I found that the boredom created much strife

Now it’s quite different the loves in my life
We are much more like friends not husband and wife
We cherish our times together, apart
We are bonded for life by a love in our hearts

Still, I'm quite single, I like it this way
Not worried by being alone, come what may
Yet the spirits of old loves who visit today
Remind me of sweet times so long passed away

Poetry of mine own heart! You really know how to rock my world! You will be never alone, for I will be there in your heart forevermore! I love this poem as it speaks from the heart!
Just like one of my favorite poetess, Alanis Morisette’s music from “Under rug, swept!”

Your rhythms are quite exquisite here and I'm glad to see you don't write with bitterness of your past loves. I know men can be arseholes (UK spelling) but some opf us deserve a break.

Sherry,
This brought me through many memories, and when we reach the point where we can be alone and it is okay, then we are never really alone again!

I enjoyed this!

Hugs and Have a Very Blessed New year!
Maria

Well, some times being alone is far better than with folks who do not care. Old memories are pleasant though.
