Withered Heart Fade to dim the withered heart Crystal spires of shattered dreams A perfect love now lost in time Through plots and bitter schemes Once life was bathed in evergreen A love was newly sown Now tatterd shards of emptiness Bare hearts ripped through the bone Beneath hope's shadowed amber haze Rest tattoos of love's decline Perfumed ink beneath the skin Heart pierced by thorn and vine Once tender thought, now angry gaze No truth or love to share When partners opt to scar their souls In anger and despair From silvery shadowed bodies blent Under crescent moonlit nights Neath diamond studded velvet skies Love lays dead from pointless flights Sherry Gail Heim October 25, 2020 Copyright © Sherry Gail Heim 2020

It's good to see you posting poetry again. But of course, on Halloween with this dreadful tome of great heartache. But there is A Lesson: Unless you are very sure that what you are placing as a tattoo on your skin will last as long as you do, I would hesitate to put something there that will go away with a whim, do not put it permanently on your skin.
