This is a poem for people who may look in the mirror and see themselves as not beautiful.Hopeully this is a reminder of how beautiful you really are.Inside and out.

Looking at mirror

she looks at herself

and wonders how she

became so old

hair getting gray

put on a few pounds

and she sees that her

eyes look so tired

Then she remembers

who created her so lone ago

Who loves her and thinks

of her body as holy

Who see's her body

as the dwelling of God

Who sees her getting older

as something beautiful

Suddenly she looks again

in the mirror and thinks

Getting older IS beautiful!

I AM beaurtiful!

I was created by God!

Cindy, I had the pleasure of reading your poem and love it... I felt each word...being one who is aging too quickly and seeing the image in the mirror do just as you describe; we do have to understand that our outer beauty is never as valued or treasured as our inner beauty....:-) That said....I still am vain, darn it... and sure wish I could stop the aging without having to lose the wisdom and wealth that experience gives us...:-)) Wonderful write, and I love the comments each person gives here... What is important is how we feel about ourselves.... we must love ourselves...and love those around us.. hugs, lindalaw

Wonderful poem Cindy. Every time I think about getting older I remind myself that it's just one day closer to being with our Lord. We're still here and watch the changes outside but we're here because He wants us to be. The way we look is the story of our life. I'd much rather look upon the placid face of a senior than I would on the makeup slathered and questioning confused face of today's youth.
Hugs,
Marcia

There are many outwardly beautiful...but their actions make them ugly. The beauty of each one is deep in our hearts! Very nice writing!
