This is a poem that reflects on being older as a gift.
Being older is such a grace Being able to look at life with a little more wisdom and patience The beauty of people like Mother Teresa How I wish our culture celebrated old age Maybe we can start a new tradition Maybe we can begin to realize our main goal is to really be older and pass on what we have learned and to give younger people the freedom to go their own way but to go on their journey with a valueable history and appreciation of life and how getting older is a gift Oh I know- some of you may think - you are kidding! But, it really is We just need to open our hearts and tell children and others it is a gift to be cherished

I concur Cindy. Every breath is a gift as well. I once heard that we can live 3 weeks without food, 3 days without water and 3 minutes without air. I don't know how long we can live without love but it is a blessed thing to grow old with the wisdom to enjoy it. The young. haven't lived long enough to have gained the wisdom to see beyond the exterior. The gift is all ours I think. Love and hugs, J'nia

People don't get gray and older for no reasons.
You are right that it is a gift from God.

Being grayer and older is:

being wiser,
gaining experience in life,
gaining children,
gaining grandchildren.
Rejoicing with family and God.

And if you happened to ask anyone what they would change if given the chance to live all over again, they probably would tell you that they would not change a thing; and that they would marry the same partner all over again, and live their lives all over again; for it takes strives and courage to live up to being old; and gray hair and the wrinkles are of earned assets.
