How sad, we have a few friends that were layed off too after 27 - 28 years and it just makes me wonder who is next as everything seems to be folding....

So true. I knew a man who got fired after working at a place for 29 years, but he got fired after some Mexicans took offense after he tried to tell them to get back to work, as they were running the clock. (The people did NOT speak English.) The company sided with the Mexicans, and they, more or less, fired my friend, for "inappropriate gestures". Sad!! My friend has since moved to Georgia. I wish people'd care today; the world would be a lot nicer!

Rare is the circumstance where a "Thank you" is not appropriate. Oftentimes saying "Thank you" may seem a small and insignificant social grace; but when the event is trying and difficult, a "Thank you" and a sincere kind word goes a long way in salving the hurt and helping the "victim" bridge the experience and move on.

I totally endorse the sentiments of your poem, Cindy, and would only add that we should never delay a "Thank you" for a better occasion or until tomorrow, for tomorrow may never come.

This is so perfect for the time. How many of us know what fate lies ahead, whether it is getting laid off, dying, or any number of things.
So yes, I wholeheartedly agree, be kind while you can, tomorrow is not promised to you.
