Were you there when the
had their last super together?
Maybe you were sitting next to Jesus
What were you feeling?
Were you happy to be close to him
What did you think when he said
this is my blood?
You couldn't have known
what was going to happen
Were you in the garden when he was praying?
Were you able to stay awake?
These are questions I ask
myself during Holy Week
Would I have said
Master, I will not betray you?
Maybe, maybe I would have
Of course I would have been the
first one who would run when
he was captured
But as I reflect I think
Maybe in their heart
they really wanted to be strong
and faithful and not run away
and Jesus sees the heart
Yet, I have to smile at them
as I smile at myself
My heart may want to follow Jesus
But sometimes being human
gets in the way
Tough questions in this inspiring poem. Before we even blunder, He knows, yet He still gives that second, third, and fourth chances because He knows the frailty of humanity, from Peter to Mary Magdalene, to the thief on the cross (who had no time to be good or charitable)- to us - His Mercy endures forever. ..."and whoever comes to Me I will never drive away." (John 6:37)
Jesus was born to die as the plan of Redemption was made from Genesis when Adam fell into sin. It was God's plan.
