Dealing With Anger

This is from my book Finding the Light of Jesus which will be available the middle of Sept. 2010 on my website.

Jesus, I come to you

with an angry heart

How can this be?

After all the times

you have forgiven me

Yet, I feel so hurt

And my hurt has turned to anger

I come to you

Know you will accept me

And my feelings

I come knowing you will welcome

Me and listen to my cry

I come with gratitude

For the compassion and care

Only you can provide

Situation: I feel angry, yet know as a Christian I am supposed to be loving. How do I handle this?

Jesus says: Oh, my beloved child, don’t run away from me because you are angry. It’s okay. I will not judge you or your feelings. I will listen with love and understanding. You can even be angry at me. Come to me. Tell me your deepest feelings. By expressing your thoughts you can strengthen our relationship. We will work through your anger together. I will not turn away from you, or be angry or disappointed in you.

Activity: Let Jesus know your feelings. You can express them in any way that makes sense to you. You can talk, write, draw, meditate, or reflect on a passage from the Bible. Only you know what is best. Some people give their anger to Jesus in a prayer of some kind. You have the tools you need to handle the anger. You can also go to someone you know who has a strong and mature faith, someone who is able to accept your anger and help you process your feelings and discover why you are angry. Jesus is present there also. It may take time to work through the situation, and that is all right. You just need to keep working on it until you are able to forgive the person and be at peace with yourself. Remember, by forgiving we are not condoning the actions of others; we are only realizing that we all have weaknesses and we all are beloved children of God. Even the person with whom you were angry.

Closing Prayer:

Jesus, help me to know

I can bring you my deepest feelings.

Help me to bring my open heart

and soul along with weaknesses

Help me turn to you daily

so that your love and light

consume my heart and soul.

Then I can bring your radiant light to others.

Amen.

For sure you have outdone yourself with this masterpiece. Sometimes we face things that become more than we can handle and the anger emerges, but with God and Jesus looking out for us we soon return to calm because it is the right way. God bless...

Be always safe,
Karen

Laughter, tear, joy, anger are all Gods gifts. Gifts to be used wisely.
Nowt to deal with, just keep loving that narrow road. x

Cindy,

We all have these times of anger for whatever reason. Emotions are strange. And yes, anger can tear the heart, but remember, Jesus got angry too, and it wasn't all bad. (turning the over the tables where people were making money in front of the temple)

Hugs, Mary
