What if I was with Jesus During His Passion?

This is a poem where I imagine being with Jesus during his passion.

Imagining being with Jesus

as he carried his cross

Hearing the crowds

and the whip as it hits his precious body

Can't stop the crowds but

I ask if I can help him

carry such a heavy cross

I ask him to please forgive us

each time we reject him or

turn away from his love

He smiles and says

You are helping me now

but there will be a time

when I will be with you

as you carry your cross

It may not be as heavy

but you will never be alone

I must do this so you and each

one may have eternal life

You must go so I can do my Father's will

I go back in the crowd

They put the nails in his hands

It's as if they are putting the nails in me

I hear him cry

" My God! My God! Why have you abandoned me!"

But then a peace comes through his face

He looks at me with one last smile

Then he says " Be not afraid. I am with you always."

Then he breaths his last breathe
