My Reserve Did Bow

In your Army fatigues
You strode onto the step
Leading to the bank
Smiling as if you had
veered over the horizon

Your eyes met mine
Dancing through the air
Inviting as if you had
Known I’d be there

Your unabashed admiration
Larger than life
Caught me off guard
How could you know

In my light jacket
I was huddled in a car
He’ll not know,
But you did and
For a moment
my reserve did bow.
