Liberty Renewed
The work is done she shines anew
That Lady by the gates
With torch held high against the sky
She proudly stands and waits.
Again she scans the distant shores
The tempest-tost to beckon
Her bright light shines so radiantly
Every minute and every second.
She lights the way for young and old
For those who yearn to be
A part of that divine pursuit
To set their spirits free.
Though times have changed and now we know
It takes a little longer
To get in line and wait your turn
That means you must be stronger.
But nothing’s changed within her heart
In her eternal plea: Give me your tired,
Your poor, your huddled masses
Still yearning to breathe free.
