Find Your Best

Who doesn’t want to be the best at something?
Whether running, talking, dancing, singing, or
Building, designing, transforming, or hitting a ball
Most of us want to be at the top of the list.
Realistically, it cannot be—
There is always someone who can
Outperform us at any activity.
And so…
If second best is all that we can achieve
Why not say so?

Don’t do it
Don’t settle for second best.

Run for the glory of running
Dance for the beauty of dancing
Sing to your heart’s desire
Practice until you are too tired to stand
Study with determined zeal
Be your best critic your biggest supporter.
There are a thousand goals you can reach
Many worthy pursuits that can take you far.

But…

If you want to be your best
Where you own your future
Never compare yourself to others
Find your own talent
Understand your limitations
But reach for that distant star
And never look back—
Your best days are yet to come.
