Written for my wife Sally,

The bumblebee syndrome, the bumblebee syndrome,

What is it? I’ll try to explain,

The bumblebee syndrome is a thing that can’t be,

But keeps happening time and again,

Ask any expert, those in the know,

How can a bumblebee fly?

It’s body’s too big for it’s wingspan and so,

There’s no way it could ever take flight,

The energy needed would so far exceed,

The amount that a bee could consume,

Scientists tell us, and of course we believe,

But no-one told the bee, I assume,

That’s the bumblebee syndrome, the bumblebee syndrome,

It’s a thing no-one can explain,

The bumblebee syndrome is a thing that can’t be,

But keeps happening time and again,

In much the same way as a heart cannot hold,

As much love as my heart holds for you,

You couldn’t conceive nor would you believe,

How much love I have, but it’s true ,

Some poets bespell us and in verses they tell us,

How much love’s considered the norm,

But my love keeps on growing, because my isn’t knowing,

For my heart was never informed,

Now doctors I’m sure, could probe and explore,

For how much love one heart can contain,

And I’m sure they’d be right, but like the bee in it’s flight,

It’s the bumblebee syndrome again,

The bumblebee syndrome, the bumblebee syndrome,

It’s a thing that no-one can explain,

The bumblebee syndrome is a thing that can’t be,

But keeps happening time and again,

So often it seems that you’re here in my dreams,

With your soft words and beautiful smile,

And from the first morning light, when I open my eyes,

You’re here in my thoughts all the while,

And I know it’s unlikely, that somebody like me,

Could be this lucky, but what can I say,

The odds are against it, but my love’s so intense it,

Seems to double with each passing day,

Though some might insist, such love can’t exist,

Except in the mind of a fool,

Or somebody crazy, delusional maybe,

But they’ve never met some-one like you,

Well there’s a very thin line, dividing the mind,

Between being sane or insane,

But my mind is as sound as any around,

It’s just the bumblebee syndrome again,

The bumblebee syndrome, the bumblebee syndrome,

Is a thing that no-one can explain,

The bumblebee syndrome is a thing that can’t be,

But keeps happening time and again.
