Spiralling down to the pits of despair,
Knowing full well what awaits me down there,
Nothing but sadness, depression and tears,
And that vanishing point where all hope disappears,
Into the black hole of fear and regret,
Where heart-breaking memories you cannot forget
Won’t let you be happy or let you feel pride,
And distort all the feeling that twist your insides,
And though I try to avoid it, each way that I turn,
Seems to offer no comfort, just more cause for concern,
And I don’t know the reason, it’s crazy I know,
I just wake up in the morning feeling so low,
Thinking about life, analysing my dreams,
And wondering if death is as bad as it seems,
Or is it just sleeping, never to wake?
No more disappointments and no more mistakes,
I’m not suicidal; I don’t want to die,
I’m just fed up with feeling as though I could cry,
And not knowing the reason, or if anyone cares,
That I’m spiralling into the pit of despair,
Inside I’m in turmoil, with indecision and doubt,
I feel like I’m screaming, but no sound will come out,
I’m begging for help but nobody can tell,
The pits of despair and the gateway to Hell,
And those gates are wide open, inviting me in,
And I’m stuck in a game that I know I can’t win,
I can’t even break even because the game isn’t fair,
So I’m spiralling down to the pits of despair.
This is a masterpiece Steve and should be published so others feeling deeply 'down' know that they are not alone.I have been there a couple of times in the past and your words here describe it better than anyone else ever has...it is just so deep and moving,it's my new favorite!
With no written explanation, I might have to think that this is you. Then, poetry is one way of dealing with depression. I know because I did write poetry when I was depressed in the past.
Whichever way it is, just fiction or a very personal expression, you always amaze me with your way of expressing things in poetry form. Keep it up.
A homonymless man writes shows what it's like to look up the laid he skirts when you’re lying prone(d) to the sidewalk, beer / joint / needle dangling from your hand /lips / arm.
South Baltimore serves as the backdrop for this gripping story of three brothers leading very different lives but joined forever by the secrets of a painful family past.
Whichever way it is, just fiction or a very personal expression, you always amaze me with your way of expressing things in poetry form. Keep it up.
