Here is the third and final part of the story,
I sincerely hope you have enjoyed the story.
and please accept my sincere gratitude for taking the time to read it.
Twice now she’d tried to tell the police
And both times she had been doubted,
This time she strode up to their desk
And through streaming tears she shouted,
“My boyfriend has been murdered”,
Then her voice cracked and sobbed,
“How many more will have to die,
Before you do your jobs?”
The desk sergeant that dealt with her
So obviously cared,
He got her a cup of coffee,
And offered her a chair,
Until an investigator got there
And promised her he would
Investigate her story,
And patrol her neighbourhood.
And just as he had promised
Police patrols increased,
But police budgets have their limits,
And two months on they ceased.
Her claims to have a stalker
Could not be proved at all,
So without witnesses or evidence,
The investigation stalled.
And that’s when her tormentor
Made his boldest move,
Breaking into her apartment,
Through a back door, rarely used,
When she returned that evening,
He pounced on her at the door,
Punching her around the head
Until she dropped to the floor,
Confused and near unconscious,
She put up no defence,
As he dragged her to the bedroom,
Where her cruel abuse commenced.
He stripped her and he raped her,
Like a man almost insane,
Each time she begged for mercy
He’d humiliate her again.
Until at last, almost exhausted
He lay down and he slept,
While in her state of shear submission,
She lay by him and she wept.
The next day it started over,
Worse this time than before,
He no longer called her by her name
Just referred to her as whore.
Three days he kept her prisoner
Becoming more deviant by the hour,
Delighting in her suffering,
Revelling in the power.
And she responded to it meekly,
Until something inside her snapped,
And picking up a carving knife
She went on the attack.
At first he was defensive,
But as the blade cut through his skin,
He knew control was now with her,
As it once had been with him.
But it wasn’t sex she wanted,
No, she wanted revenge,
So she tied him to a chair,
And stabbed him time and time again.
Slicing with the carving knife,
Piece by little piece,
The neighbours heard him screaming,
And of course they called the police.
When they arrived she was still slicing,
Though he no longer felt the pain,
He was gone and she was safe now,
Though totally insane.
Oh...the poor lady, this was so frightening and sadly not always fiction as here in Australia the police often ignore reports from terrified women due to her not having proof. As always Steve you are the master of story-telling woven into a perfect rhyme.Awesome work!
Best wishes always to you and yours

This reminds me of a movie (can't recall the name or the cast)
but the leading lady introduced her tormentor to the taser, 50 ft of
duct tape, a kitchen table, castration, testicles in the disposal, a 20 ft length of rope, and a roof top. He was deliriously happy to jump from the roof when he heard the wailing of police sirens coming for him. She smiled through it all.
Unfortunately, I had forgotten the first two parts of this torturous tale. While it is a risk to post a long poem all at once, I think in this case it might have been warranted.
Still, in this section you point out that police can only go so far and must have evidence of a crime and pointing toward suspects in order to pursue an investigation of the potential of a crime. Potential of crime is not there for today.
So, in the case of your poem, the woman being stalked, while make captive and tortured, is able, on her own, to turn the tables. The outcome, either by police indifference or inability to act, is tragic for everyone involved.
As expected and to your credit as an author, your poem tells the story very clearly and empathetically.
A jaded cold case investigator finds himself trying to solve a thirty year old mystery when the skeletal remains of two missing teenagers are found in a national park.
Serial killer Ted Bundy's murders recounted from the perspective of thirty years after his execution in a Florida prison.
Brutal, compelling, with new updated facts about the case, his victims and the compulsions that drove Ted Bundy to mass murder.
Prime-Time Crime Time (600 pages) is a collection of 35 fictional crime/detective stories and the work is author Jay Dubya's 43rd published hardcover/paperback book.
