Blood and Thorn

A little poem I wrote for a Vampire poetry contest.

Blood and Thorn

 

Your neck quivers below my bite

Scarlet nectar to drink like wine

Skin as pale as the moon at night

One sharp kiss to make you mine

 

You are the rose and I, the thorn

Forever night, forbidden morn

Across centuries, a love forlorn

Free from death, together sworn

 

One prick of the thorn and I drink

Red sustenance seeps from the wound

Hungrily, I feed until death’s brink

Bloodlust in the light of the moon

 

Rose and thorn, hunger and desire

Flesh to touch, two souls afire

Pain eternal hidden in deep desire

Children of the night, a vampire
