Thoughts on a trip to the magical Emerald Isle

Poem Artwork

Took a trip to the Emerald Isle

                   forewarned to beware

                   its captivating spell

                 still capture me it did.

Following footsteps of those who tread the path before

listening to whispers, searching for ghosts

           echoing strains of melancholy tunes

                misty clouds on mountains

            shadows counting heads of sheep.

                         Behind gypsy gates

                wild daisies cover mossy walls

where faces known as well as my own

                suggest a story never told

           and mysteries reveal themselves

                 across silent fields of stone.

            Carefully crafted grey rock heart

                                 waits

on a sandy shore in Aran

                      like coins in a fountain

                       keeping wishes safe

                         will I ever return

                          Will I ever leave?

A lovely tribute to a special and lovely place; I am of Celtic origins so, your verses "speak" to me. Thank you for sharing, Anne. Love and best wishes to you,

The place certainly has its charm. No wonder so many have fought over the green so many times.

Sensational ending to your poem, Anne. Once a bit 'o the blarney is in your blood, you can never leave. I really like this poem. Cheers!

Literary Savannah by Aberjhani

"The statues of Savannah's Monument Square are silent. The statue of the solemn girl in Bonaventure Cemetery—made famous in John Berendt's blockbuster book, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil—can't speak. Only Savannah's literary monuments can g
