Teenage Mother
Jim Graham 1/1/2015
The rush to the delivery room, the fear and pain.
The short-lived joy of a newborn baby.
Joy overshadowed by callous doctors,
the news was bad, how could it get worse.
Facts rolled in not timely at all.
Two and a half pounds, oh so small.
Two and a half months premature,
Cerebral palsy, there is no cure.
Lifetime of care, untiring love,
A journey with God, be always mindful.
Doctors stood tall in white clean coats.
Nervously swaying, eyes damp with tears.
These are the facts, they stated so coldly.
Small chance of survival, mentally retarded.
Lifetime of needs, burden of care.
Emotionally transforming, a life filling task.
We need your thoughts, shall we continue our care.
Shall nature proceed, your love is the choice.
Be aware of your love, you will need to share.
Now and forever, heartbreaks for life.
Tears flow like rivers, a flush of emotions.
The love of a mother, she shouts out loudly.
Do all that you can, he's got to live,
He is my son, I want him to live.
I'll love and cherish him, now and forever,
I'll always be strong, his life is my love.
God give me the strength to follow your path,
undying love, I'll cherish and share.
