Be My Valentine



In our modern world, it sounds so quaint, so old-fashioned and plain
Yet a world of subtle thoughts and feelings the phrase does contain

We have traveled a difficult journey on this long path through time
Experienced the entire range of emotions, laid our fate on the line

Shared joys and sorrows, fought side by side against life’s cruel jokes
Watched our children grow up, suffered sorrow as you lost your folks

The cold, changing world and our own immaturity tried their level best
to push us apart, destroy our character, yet we somehow passed the test

Now here we are, my love, my security blanket, my best friend,
supporting and cherishing each to the other, a team to the very end

Of all the things I’ve said and done, and all the mistakes I’ve made
There is one thing I can proudly say has been consistently true

No matter what has happened, or how hard things became
I have never stopped loving you.

So please be my valentine, now and forever, keep me always in your heart
And I’ll do the same, my sacred promise, to love you til death do us part.
