Loneliness

When we lonely, we look for that knock on the door..

Loneliness is such an isolated word,
A picture frame falling,
glass breaking, doors slamming.
Gone. Gone.
My heartbreak is assured.

Is this heart of mine a pantomime?
A silly game that lovers play?
A witty joke, a cackling laugh,
some silly word, an epitaph?
For it feels like death inside of me, each time you walk away.

Silence echoes from room to room,
while my thoughts revolve
around in my mind,
I wish that I were not so blind.
Break through my darkness!
Seek me in my abyss!
Help me to find,
some sanity, a way forward,
to understand, to resume
the normality of my existence
once again!

I look through the hollow tunnel of your eyes,
painful mystery like
waves to the shore.
I wish that I was there with you,
to hold your hand and guide you,
to help you and to steer you, find,
more brighter days, lit up paths,
peace and sanity once more.

We are all foreigners in a
deserted land,
wandering aimlessly around,
looking for an outstretched
hand.
For someone to share our
highs and lows,
our ecstasy, our misery, our
insecurity, the intimacies
we have banned.

A gentle knock, a creaking door,
a stone thrown at my window
pane.
I look, I see your smiling face
and I'm not lonely anymore.

I can relate, Margaret. A compelling poem; thank you for sharing it. Love and best wishes,
