It twas the golden light of the glistening glow,
that attracted me that night.
To flutter my wings and fly so close
to the burning embers bright.
I didn't know, I didn't know,
and almost froze with fright,
when I realized that you had drawn me
to your crystal ball of prophesy and light.

I flew so close, I flew so close,
I was in a hypnotic state,
your charm and your sweetness,
I remember on our date.

My fire and my innocence often draws the wrong crowd
but inside I wish I could win the hand,
of a mounty that is so brave,
and perhaps they will call me a fairy tale,
but at least God knows where my heart lies.

How could you? How Could You,
bottle me up in that jar?
When you knew that all I wanted to be,
was in love and be carefree and afar,
from my dead, dull and boring life,
I wanted you to set me free!

Yet now because of you my heart is oh so cold,
I will not let you hinder me or break the borders that enfold
the circumference of my soul,
you will never have the opportunity to gorge a hole
in my inner being where I let you creep in,
I flew so close that I singed my wings,
just like Icarus and the sun,
Its too late now for me, the deed has been done.

I will not glow again for a long time,
and I hope that I become
a butterfly with new wings,
where her old life has shed the skin and the web that was spun
to catch me unawares in your corner.
No! My new life has begun!

Is there love? Is there love?
Or is this a simple board game,
where we throw the dice and wander
from square to square, how fickle and how lame!
I doubt I will ever trust again and let my cares squander,
throwing all caution to the wind,
I'd rather be lonely than mixed up in this spider's web.
May my isolation help me find,
time, sweet time, to repair my broken wings, to laugh and be on the mend.

These are thoughts that are very familiar to me, Margaret. Thank you for sharing. Love and best wishes,
