Is peace in the cooing of a dove?
Is peace the desert sand blown in dust?
Is peace the stillness of a starlit sky?
If peace is all this, why do I find myself asking why?

Can we find it in a relationship,
or in the surrender of a raised white flag?
Is it the compromise of an argument,
or is it the achievement of climbing a mountain crag?
If it is all this, why am I so sad?

Is peace the string quartet of rehearsed notes,
is it the days catch of fishing boats?
Can it be a guilty conscience set free,
or is this all merely temporary?

Where do I find peace that lasts
and outdoes every worldly task?
To find the feeling of calm and still,
In my heart of hearts, in my will;
to break the mundane roll
of monotonous hours that measure our lives.
Tick, tock, tick, tock, can you see the farce?

I thought it was in the beating of heart in love.
I searched and realized that this was not enough.
I thought it was the trance of pounding drums,
but that was artificial and made me succumb
to the realization and the fact,
that peace is not a play or act.
It is merely the state of a fellow’s mind,
Where we let go and give all we find
to the Great Creator of all mankind.

Now the raindrops dance with glee,
Each sheet of music is in harmony.
I have no fear of what tomorrow brings
For peace is no longer the search of material things.
No worry encroaches my every being,
For faith is the substance of the believing in all that is unseen.
