Time heals all wounds they say,
but why does my heart break this way?
Eternity, forever, a lifetime may dull the pain,
but it doesn’t dissolve the shame
of rejection that dwells inside.
My dignity, my boldness, my pride.
My stupidity, ignorance and lies
I told myself in hope.

In time, the seasons change,
all things beautiful, all things rearrange.
One day closes and another door opens.
We face our fate, always hoping
for goodness, for joy and an answer to prayer,
but sometimes the answer is more than we can bear.

What is life all about?
Why are some things so unfair?
I want to whisper, utter, scream and shout,
why can’t situations just work out?
So we accept and proceed in this walk we all have,
there are those worse off than us,
their situations are unbearable and tough.

One person dies, a new life is born.
Although there is sadness, happiness dawns.
War takes lives but there are those who survive;
to tell the story of heroes who’s lives are now lost,
why can’t they be alive to tell the plot?
The remainder of war leaves scars inside,
all those who fought, all those who died
leave bittersweet memories of loved ones left behind,
why, oh why, is life so unkind?

So it’s in the little things we find joy,
a song, a walk, a comforting pet;
they bring us joy although we are vexed.
Old age creeps up on us
and before we know, time has run out
and we bestow
our inheritance on those we choose.
Their gain in our loss,
we have won although death seems to make us lose
time, precious time, to do the things we wanted to.
Today we must live life,
before its too late and regrets are rife.
