How can I say I love you?

When you say you do not love me anymore.

How can you say the things you do

And say you’re walking out the door.

I gave to you but twelve short years

Since the day that we were wed

I shared your joy and all your tears

You broke my heart with the words you said.

Are you only using me?

To help you finish your course.

Pretending to all you still love me.

Is it for appearance or do you want me more.

I swore that I would love you.

Be faithful to the end of time

Tell me, what else can I do.

I have committed no crime.

I have kept my oath to you.

In joy and with your tears

I wonder if I can still trust you

When you’ve filled my life with fear.

You say that you will try

To save what we once had.

Yet every day you make me cry.

Leave me feeling sad.

I wonder what you have in mind

For what the future brings

I pray that to me you’ll be kind

I wonder if my heart will sing.
