Flowers bud, and bloom, then die,
and in between, their petals lie,
soft and steadied on the breeze,
to touch the ground with knowing ease.

When petals pure and petals white,
are lost from good young Flower's sight,
then scarlet blood will fill her skin,
with knowledge of a secret sin.

A secret sin, but is there doubt?
None within Flower, none without,
so secret sins make secret smiles,
and secret love makes light of trials.

So Flower grows beyond a bud,
and leaves behind her childhood blood,
and blooms beneath an adult sky;
the beauty of her lover's eye.
