All Is Vanity

Man's efforts to achieve greatness in the eyes of other men

Man, Oh foolish man, You've enthroned yourselves Within the citadels of higher education. You've filled your minds with lofty ideas, reached for pinnacles of thought to raise yourselves above the masses. You've applauded your intellect as you cover yourselves with the awards handed out by other men. Secure, you think, within hallowed walls built of brick and stone. You compete with each other in grave pursuit of some new idea or astonishing concept. You spend your life arranging words that please your counterparts, to bask in the applause of other men. You seem unaware, in your conclaves of human endeavor, of your own mortality, your vulnerability. You think yourself invincible, barricaded behind your PHDS, your doctorate degrees, your momentary glory. While all the time, God looks down upon His creation and Wisdom calls in urgent tones for someone to listen, as the edifices once strong and secure, crumple to the ground and the lofty words of proud men disappear into dust. Nothing remains of their kingdoms, their thoughts and ideas as from the regions of eternity, THE WORD appears. The impact of their folly in pursuing other gods sends all men, small or great to their knees in abject worship of His deity. For God laughs at man's attempts at greatness without Him, as He thunders forth His final words: "Depart from me, you foolish ones. I never knew you. You never knew me." Patsy Lewis 4/27/2014

A look into the hearts of humanity from The Lord God's perspective!
God was never amazed by any man, except the ones who trusted in Him to the result of obedience. Great write PJ!
